Premium spa services can be enjoyed in Latvia such as the exclusive day spa Espa Riga in the very heart of the capital city, in a nineteenth-century six-storey art nouveau building, featuring a sophisticated interior.

Espa offers a variety of thermal pools and baths, multifunctional showers, a spacious fitness area and, of course, effective beauty treatments provided by the best professionals and distinguished by a special attitude.

The fifth floor of the largest shopping centre in Old Riga, Galerija Centrs, also houses one of the largest day spas in the Baltics, while in the vicinity of the Riga Passenger Terminal, you will find a quiet and intimate location to regain your energy - Taka Spa.

Wide-ranging spa services are provided by most companies in the beauty treatment industry and hotels in Riga as well as in Jūrmala, Liepāja and Ventspils, yet they appear especially attractive once you have studied the offerings: high-quality treatments, cosmetic products, skilled and delicate professionals, personal service and an intimate atmosphere for a price that will be considered low in Western Europe. The majority of treatments offered are part of the “must haves” in the spa culture, but guests are drawn by special features – which explains the proliferation of unusual ideas.

For example, materials originating from the pristine Latvian nature are used in cosmetic products for sauna, aromatherapy products, natural-fibre fabrics and beauty accessories; seasonal products are used in the treatments: not only herbal and honey baths, but also strawberry and cottage cheese facial masks, buttermilk lotions and hemp scrubs.

Lovers of all things exotic must definitely try out spas located in country manors or health farms, where a high-grade body and mind restoration regimen is supplemented by soul-calming tranquillity, beautiful Latvian landscapes and a well-ordered environment. For example, the designer hotel Annas was recently opened in Vidzeme, at Annas of the Amata region, which features an exclusive spa centre, Vannas (Baths), and a slow food restaurant, Kannas (Cans).

Meanwhile, at the other end of Latvia, in Kurzeme, Spa Hotel Usma is located next to Lake Usma, offering a pampering body treatment using floral and plant “pindas”, or herbal sachets (in 2009, it won a European Health & Spa award for the best spa body treatment/pampering procedure).
