In 2014, the festival’s theme is "Utopian City", inviting people to look at the city as a complex and unfinished structure, as a place that does not exist. The international symposium "Urban Utopia: Art and Culture as a Tool for Exploring and Researching a City" will take place from the 12th to the 14th September to discuss theoretical and practical aspects of the contemporary concept of utopia. Foreign lecturers and local experts will focus on a variety of areas which concern urban environment – anthropology, sociology, the practices of art and architecture, philosophy and others. Japanese artist Ryoji Ikeda’s audio-visual concert "datamatics [ver.2.0]" will also take place as part of the "Survival Kit 6" Festival, on the 7th of September at the "Splendid Palace" cinema.

The international contemporary art festival "Survival Kit 6" will take place at two venues in Riga this year: in Wagner Hall in Riga’s Old Town and in the former textiles factory "Boļševička" at Ganību dambis 30. From the 4th to the 27th of September, the festival will offer art exhibitions, a symposium, performances, creative workshops, and film screenings. More than 70 artists from 25 countries participate in the festival. The theme for the festival this year is "Utopian City", the festival is organised by the Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art.
