8,000-10,000 Russian tourists could be visiting Latvia on New Year's Eve, tourism agency "Meeting Tour Travel & SPA Consultants" director Iveta Kravale told "Nozare.lv".

Kravale informed that the company plans to welcome around 2,000 foreign guests from December 30 to January 8 and nearly all of them are from Russia.

"Knowing the capacity of our rivals and the situation in Latvian hotels, I can assume that around 8,000-10,000 Russian tourists will be in Latvia during this period," said Kravale, adding that the number of foreign tourists in Latvia this year will increase by 30-40 percent.

According to the Latvian Association of Hotels and Restaurants, 7,000 to 10,000 foreign guests could arrive in Riga to see in the New Year. The current number of bookings indicates that the hotels will be full on New Year's Eve.
