The 11th international pop-music festival "New Wave 2012" starts at Dzintari Concert Hall in Jurmala on July 24th.

The 11th international pop-music festival "New Wave 2012" starts at Dzintari Concert Hall in Jurmala on July 24th.

16 participants from various countries - Armenia, Belarus, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Mexico, Nigeria, Russia, Ukraine, Finland and Latvia - will take part in this year's "New Wave". The five-piece vocal group "Framest" will represent Latvia at the festival.

"New Wave 2012" will also feature performances by popular Russian musicians. Special guests at the event will include Canadian singer-songwriter Nelly Furtado and South Korean lyric coloratura soprano Sumi Jo.

The festival will run until July 29, when the judges will decide who will be the recipient of the "Crystal Wave" award this year.
