15% increase in number of guests at Riga accommodation establishments in January

This past January, there was a 15 percent increase in the number of guests staying at accommodation establishments in Riga, with hotel occupancy rate reaching 46.68 percent, according to a survey by the Riga Tourism Development Bureau (RTDB).

In January of 2011, the hotel occupancy rate in Riga was 40.74 percent. On the other hand, according to information from International Airport Riga, the airport serviced a total of 317,228 passengers in January, which was a five percent increase on January 2011, when the airport serviced 301,298 passengers. The total number of visa applications to Latvia this past January has increased by 39 percent compared to the same month in 2011, reaching 6,582.
