Jurmala city council moves to take over historic resort at Kemeri

The Jurmala City Council deputies voted without objection today to motion for seizure of historic Kemeri resort – the grandiose sanatorium/hotel and 12 land plots, where curative mineral springs are located.

The Jurmala City Council deputies voted without objection today to motion for seizure of historic Kemeri resort – the grandiose sanatorium/hotel and 12 land plots, where curative mineral springs are located.

The council will request its attorneys find the best legal avenues for the seizure, which is being done to preserve an object of cultural and historic significance and its natural resources – in the interests of the people.

. Mayor Gatis Truksnis pointed out that the complete inertia on the part of the owners-investors is no excuse for such a landmark to remain dormant and waste away.
