The "China Daily" website about Latvia has been visited by more than 3.67 million people, "Nozare.lv" was informed by Latvian Tourism Development Agency representative Inta Briede.

"Statistics show that the website - "Global.chinadaily.com.cn/latvia/" (in Chinese) - was visited 3,674,930 times from August 9 to September 9," said Briede.

52 percent of visitors were from China, including 18.8 percent from Beijing. 13 percent were from the United States, 12 percent - Great Britain, nearly 10 percent - Sweden, slightly less than 9 percent - from Lithuania, explained Briede.

Foreign visitors were mostly interested in the Riga Central Market, Latvian confectionery "Laima", herbal liquor "Rigas melnais balzams", as well as the interview with Latvian Ambassador to China Ingrida Levrence.

As reported, a website with comprehensive information about Latvia has been created in cooperation with one of the largest Chinese newspapers - "China Daily".

The website contains information about Latvian traditions, culture, tourism and recreational opportunities, economic environment, business and investment potential.

To become familiar with Latvia and create an interesting website for the Chinese audience, five "China Daily" reporters visited Latvia in the middle of June. They interviewed several high-ranking officials, including Saeima Speaker Solvita Aboltina (Unity) and Saeima Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ojars Eriks Kalnins (Unity), met with the heads of "Latvijas Finieris" and "Laima", visited the Freeport of Riga, "Rietumu banka", the School of Business Administration "Turiba" and the Confucius Center at the Pauls Stradins Clinical University Hospital.
