New season for Kontinental Ice Hockey League

Top-quality ice hockey can be seen in Latvia’s capital when local ice hockey club Riga "Dinamo" takes to the ice at "Arena Riga" in Kontinental Ice Hockey League (KHL) action, the strongest ice hockey league in the world.

The new season will start on September 7, while the first game in Riga will be played on September 19, when “Dinamo” will face Moscow CSKA.

This season will also feature a new team – Slovakian “Lev”.

Riga "Dinamo" games are by far the most popular sports events in Latvia at the moment, with many foreigners also attending the games to enjoy the action and atmosphere. Many guests even come especially to Riga to see a hockey game and legends like Riga “Dinamo” defender Sandis Ozolins and “Salavat Yulaev” forward Viktor Kozlov play.

The 2011/2012 KHL “All Star Game” will be played in Riga on January 21, 2012. The match in Riga will attract not only Latvian and Russian fans, but also fans from Western Europe.
