A new yachting museum was opened at Kuivizu yacht club in Salacgriva Region on June 18. The museum features historical materials about yachting, honors, awards and certificates from the legendary Latvian yachtsman Jevgenijs Kanskis’ family archive.

With the establishment of the museum, this invaluable historical evidence has finally found a permanent place of residence and are now available to the public.

Kanskis (17.12.1907-5.7.1986) dedicated 70 years of his life to yachting. He claimed countless victories and titles, including 16 Soviet Union champion titles.

Salacgriva is a coastal town, where the international pop/rock music concert “Positivus” is held every year. Now the town has become even richer, and the new museum will be appreciated in particular by yachting enthusiasts.
