"Interview with Madonna" is an essay on Vismane’s intuitive search for an answer to the query: what does it mean to be a single mother. Via interview, image, movement, text, music, symbols and discussion, the creative team attempts to look at the issue from a broader perspective, to decipher why women raise children by themselves and the result or consequences thereof. This production balances between the imaginary and documentary, bitter reality and simple truth, mundane and divine.
The production is rich in content as it is based on documented interviews with single mothers in Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania, providing a fruitful opportunity to compare individual cases and situations based on the economic and cultural differences of each country.
Opening night on March 8th at 19.00; subsequent performances March 9th, 11th and 15th, all at 19.00. The venue is the wooden houses restoration centre "Koka Rīga" in the Grīziņkalns section of Riga.
