Nearly 1.5 million travelers visited the Latvian capital in 2011. It is expected that the number will further grow this year, breaking the current record for the number of guests who spend several days in Riga.
Past experience indicates that the largest number of guests visits Riga in the second half-year, especially in the third quarter, said Jermolovica.
By developing business, culinary, SPA and medical tourism and continuing to popularize Riga as the capital of a decorated Christmas tree offering a particularly festive atmosphere, a considerable increase in the number of travelers is expected in the fourth quarter.
