One of the special times of year here is October, when the surrounding hills are covered in the colors of autumn – from sunny gold to warm red. Sigulda’s golden autumn has started.

People can go on magnificent walks during this time of year, where breathtaking scenery can be seen around every corner. An amazing view of the surrounding countryside can be seen from atop the Turaida Castle tower, as well as from the Sigulda ferris wheel and the cable-car that crosses the valley. Another way of viewing the majestic scenery is from above, either on a hot-air balloon or a small plane, which specialize in taking tourists in the air to view the scenery.

Other popular activities during the autumn season is taking a bike ride along the many paths, or even going horse back riding.

It should be added that seeing Sigulda and the surrounding area takes more than a day, as there are many things to see and do. The town also features the "Aerodium" vertical wind tunnel, for those interested in active tourism. The wind-tunnel itself has become one of modern Latvia’s symbols, as it shot to fame during the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin when Latvian wind acrobats performed at the Closing Ceremony.
