Wikipedia to now include information in Latgalian

The popular on-line encyclopedia - Wikipedia, will now include information in the Latgalian dialect, LETA was informed by the Latgalian cultural portal "Latgalisu Kulturys gazeta".

The popular on-line encyclopedia - Wikipedia, will now include information in the Latgalian dialect, LETA was informed by the Latgalian cultural portal "Latgalisu Kulturys gazeta".

Wikipedia currently has 450 informative articles in the Latgalian dialect on various subjects.

At the moment, information on Wikipedia is available in 267 languages, and features over 18 million different information entries.

As reported, Latgalians are the ethnic Latvians of Latgale Province (eastern Latvia), who developed separately from the rest of ethnic Latvia in 1621-1917. Some Latgalians consider themselves to be an ethnic group separate from Latvians. The majority opinion is, however, that present-day Latgalians are a subgroup of the Latvians.
