  • New National Library hosts first in series of exhibits on Latvians as refugees and immigrants in periods of history
    The first exhibit (open September 19-November 16) will mark the 100th anniversary since the beginning of WWI. 
  • Legendary Latvian Bicycle Maker "Erenpreiss" Celebrates Courtyard Festival
    Already this Thursday, on September 18, everyone is welcome to participate in the “Erenpreiss” bicycle workshop’s festival to be held in the courtyard of 90 Čaka Street at 6 p.m. Participants in the event will have opportunity to acquaint themselves with the process of bicycle manufacture and the work of the bicycle restoration workshop, learn more about “Erenpreiss” bicycle models, enjoy good music and tasty snacks.
  • Museum of Natural History to Again Showcase Versatility of Latvian Mushrooms
    The long-awaited Mushroom Days at the Latvian Museum of Natural History will be from September 17 to September 21. Every autumn, the exhibition and the accompanying events present to the public the vast array of mushrooms that can be found in Latvia.
  • Tours Exploring Wooden Architecture in Pārdaugava
    Tours exploring the wooden architecture of Riga’s Pārdaugava (left bank of the Daugava River) is an opportunity for local residents and foreign visitors to learn about this characteristic of many Riga neighbourhoods, and its development from the individual log buildings in the 17th and 18th century to the renaissance of wooden homes in the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. This is when a large number of wooden buildings were constructed, where wood frames were built with facades done in the classical, romantic nationalism and Swiss styles.

    ”Pegazs” Gallery’s next feature exhibition (opening September 16) will be a tribute to one of the greats of modern art in Latvia - Leo Kokle, on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
  • LU Botanical Gardens host orchid days
    September 6-14, the Botanical Gardens of the University of Latvia will be featuring a most striking and alluring flower – the orchid. The tilandsia and several other exotic plants will also bask in the spotlight, and visitors will have the chance to take part in master classes, consult with experts and make purchases.
  • "Wizz Air" begins flights from Riga to Dortmund

    The low-cost airline “Wizz Air” launched flights from the Riga International Airport to Dortmund, Germany on September 1. The flights take place on Wednesdays and Sundays, using “Airbus 320” aircraft.
  • Works from the Julia Stoschek Collection
    In Old Town’s Riga Art Space, artwork from the influential Julia Stoschek Collection will be on display at an exhibition titled "High Performance". Its focus is on video art, installations and performances, dated from 1996on.
