Akmeņrags lighthouse

Red, conical stone tower 35m high. It was built in 1921. Lighthouse that existed before was built in 1885. Every 7.5 seconds two flashing lights lit up. Lighthouse is the main decoration of the stone horn. It is open for visitors for a charge.

When climbing onto lighthouse, a fantastic view onto the sea and surrounding forests greets us. You can approach the lighthouse from the direction of Ziemupe (~11km). Administrator of the lighthouse has created the „Local museum” in open air, as she calls it herself. There you can take a look at the amber and fossils found nearby the lighthouse of Akmeņrags.
