Apriķi Church

The Apriķi Lutheran Church, one of the most splendid churches in Kurzeme, was built in 1710. On the outside, it does not differ much from other churches of the former province of Courland; the church interior, however, features unique woodcarvings and an amazing painted ceiling.

The private pew of the Lord of the Manor, the pulpit, the organ loft, the pipe organ, the altar, and the confessional bench all form a harmonious ensemble – a masterpiece of woodcarving. A Prussian Painter I. F. Rode painted the ceiling from 1744 to 1746.
