"Billites"- the house of writer Edvards Virza

"Billites”, where the Latvian poet Edvarts Virza (1883 – 1940) lived for many years is located in Sidrabene parish.

Many poems were written in “Billites” and in 1933 in the gazebo and the upper floor of the house Virza wrote "Straumeni" - the most magnificent portrayal of a Latvian peasant ever written.“Billites” is now a museum.The creator of the museum is the daughter of Edvarts Virza and Elza Sterste Amarillis Liekna.The true heirs of "Billites" Amarillis Liekna and her son Eduards have returned here.
