The collection of antlers in Vaides

The house "Purvziedi" offers to see an exhibition of 500 antlers of elks, deer and roebucks collected by forest-guard Edgars Hausmanis. He has collected antlers for 30 years during forest ranger rounds.

Collection of antlers

Antlers are not hunting trophies, they were found accidentally. 350 of all antlers in this collection are elk antlers. The first elk antlers were found in 1960s. Some of them are with the animal forehead or the whole skull.

About "Purvziedi"

House is one of the rare places, where the fences typical of Liiv farms are still maintained. A bushy simple yew-tree grows next to the fence.

It is possible to sit in chairs that have been made from elk and deer antlers.

In summer it is possible to stay at campsite or under canvas.
