Daylily garden and home wines

The garden hosts the largest daylily collection in the Eastern Europe. It is situated in Lauciene, 10 km from Talsi, near Talsi–Jūrmala motorway. The garden offers a possibility to visit this versatile, ornamental and strong wintergreen in its natural environment.

The great variety of colours and flower forms can completely confuse anyone, since there are more than 2000 different daylily species and hybrids. When visiting the garden, visitors are welcome to choose the plant they like the best and purchase it immediately, for daylilies can be easily replanted also in the bloom period. Those who cannot unfortunately visit the garden, yet are willing to grow daylilies, can order their plants on the home page until 1 June, and the plants will be delivered by post.

Upon prior announcement, gourmets can taste up to 15 different home wines produced only by fermented Latvian fruits and berries. The host is already the second generation which is engaged in home wine making for about 40 years. He is glad that thanks to insistence of the association “Country Traveller” it is finally legal to sell home wines and they can be offered not only to visitors of the selection garden but also in different markets and wine festivals, for instance, in Sabile. Therefore a licence is put in the seat of honour.
