Laima Clock

The Laima Clock in downtown Riga is one of the city’s symbols, and a popular meeting place for residents, as well as guests visiting the Latvian capital.

Arrive on time

For almost 100 years the Laima Clock has been standing in its place between Bastejkalns and the Latvian National Opera and Ballet on the square opposite the Freedom Monument.

However, not many people know that it was constructed in 1924 with practical aims – so that residents of Riga arrive to work on time

In 1936, the clock was decorated by the country’s largest confectionery producer Laima, which also placed its logo on the clock.

Set a meeting at the clock

Meet up before an opera performance, with a long lost friend or, a first date; if Laima Clock could talk, it would have many romantic stories to tell. Either it is a winter evening or a bright summer afternoon – the Laima Clock is a non-stop meeting point for the many emotional encounters in life.
