The “Andrupene Farmstead” Museum is a place where traditions, crafts, culinary heritage, folklore, and nature come together. It opened in 2000 at the highest point of the village of Andrupene, 211 meters above sea level.

When you visit the museum, you’ll find yourself in the Latgale countryside at the beginning of the 20th century. The hostesses of the farmstead welcome everyone with open arms. Here, everyone is treated like a long-awaited guest.

Here you can explore a century-old farmhouse, a barn, a traditional sauna, and various tools and household items. By booking in advance, you can enjoy unique dishes from Latgale’s culinary heritage—dishes characteristic only of this region—such as kuģeli, guļbešņīkus, pancakes with cymus, asuškas, cheese, butter, herbal tea, and šmakovka. The hostesses at this farmstead know how to bake indescribably delicious bread. The folklore group “Sovvaļnīki” ensures a lively atmosphere, inviting everyone to sing lively songs and dance along with them… And to immerse yourself in the sounds of the Latgalian language.

With the aim of preserving ancient crafts, a blacksmith’s shop has been established on the museum grounds, where you can actually see the forging process, as well as a potter’s workshop with a kiln. Firing and unloading the kiln is always a major event, which is why everyone interested is invited to the big celebrations at the Andrupene kiln.

This place is popular among newlyweds. Here, the newlyweds are welcomed with a special program based on traditions and customs.

A comfortable and cozy seminar room has been set up in the barn. Behind the museum lies an 800-meter-long marsh trail with the heady scent of meadowsweet, a carpet of red cranberries, and the melodious songs of birds.

The “Andrupene Farmstead” Museum is a venue for outdoor events; the most popular among visitors are the Midsummer celebrations, when the farmyard transforms into a stage where local and invited amateur theater groups showcase their talents.
