Cinema "Rīga" is worth visiting not only for an artistic treat but also due to its architecture: it is the monument of architecture of national importance with an impressive neo-Baroque facade. Whereas the interior pleases the eye with the diversity of neo-Rococo decoration and in particular the unique ceiling painting of the Large Hall.
It should be noted that the first sound film in the Baltic states, "Singing Fool" (1928, directed by Lloyd Bacon, US), was shown in this historical building.
The film theatre has another special feature: its large size posters displayed at the entrance are hand-painted on canvas by the theatre’s own artist.
Mindful of people in wheelchairs, the film theatre has a special entrance and a lift. Since spring 2010, the theatre building hosts TINTO Vīna Telpa café, accessible both for the visitors, and for the residents and the guests of the city.
