The chamber orchestra "Kremerata Baltica" was established in 1997 by the world-famous violinist Gidons Krēmers, who became the artistic director and soloist of the orchestra.

The chamber orchestra gathers exceptionally talented young musicians from the Baltic States. "Kremerata Baltica" is called not only de facto ambassador of the Baltic Region culture, but also a bridge maker in the context of trans-European integration.

Martin Gore admits in an interview with the magazine "Rolling Stone" that promotion tour shows for the album "Delta Machine" are among the longest they have ever performed — the concert is about two hours and fifteen minutes long.

The small Latvian town Sigulda is a true winter sports capital. The National Botanic Garden of Latvia is one of the most popular places of recreation in Riga — it is possible to explore the compact, but very information-intensive area at a slow pace, to get acquainted with plants from all over the world, as well as to simply enjoy the nature in the centre of urban life.

The production of "The Marriage of Figaro" will offer the inhabitants of the city, and probably also its visitors, to get to know the famous Argentinean director and artistic director of Teatro Colón — Marcelo Lombardero, whose productions have been highly appraised by audiences and critics in South America and Europe.

The production of Mozart's opera in the Latvian National Opera has been produced in the 1980ies Latin American soap opera style, by creating an atmosphere full of exotic, social and erotic tension.

Latvian National Symphony Orchestra offers an interesting musical project with a provoking name — Made in USSR.

It will be like a historical excursion through the former Soviet musical reality and public perceptions. The leading role in this extraordinary project will be played by Dmitri Shostakovich and Alfred Schnittke — personalities not understood by their peers and breaking the borders of tenets of those times.

Meteņi is a festival where the ancient Latvians celebrated the passing of winter and started preparing for the coming of spring. Meteņi saw the winter's last mask processions, when people sang, danced, wished well, visited each other far away, rode sleighs down a mountain and boasted to ensure a good harvest.

By encouraging to identify and search for new symbols of Riga, in 2013 Winter Doings of Riga, channel beaver became a favourite of inhabitants of Riga. Activities take place all day: there will be a maskparade of inhabitants of Riga, exciting andathleticcompetitions, artist workshops, variousperformances and urban dances by the most popular DJs, carnival parades with images of symbols of Riga designed by artists. Winter Doings of Riga has a special closing event ¾Winter Ball.
