In 2000the centre expanded the scope of its activities with a new profile – adult education. Local courses of English were organised in Sabile, and various legislation seminars for entrepreneurs. Information is collected on adult education possibilities and employment prospects, which the centre provides to anyone who expresses their interest.
In 2001, the Information Centre was reshaped into the Tourism Information Centre of Sabile county with a task to collect and preserve tourism information about the Sabile county, as well as to cooperate with other tourism information centres in the Abava Valley, to organise excursions, to consult the information centre visitors, and to arrange seminars for the entrepreneurs specialising in the field of tourism.
In 2001 the centre takes over the functions of the municipal information centre. A regional newspaper is published as a comprehensive source of information on the municipal and regional news. Plans include publishing additional information material for the local community. The centre could also assist the locals with the preparation of necessary documents before submitting them to the municipal council.
As of 2002, the centre will become the INFORMATION CENTRE of the Sabile county.
May-September 2002: the Information Centre operates without its head Dagnija Kalniņa. Her position is temporarily occupied by Ansis Bērziņš. During this period the centre stops catering to such fields as adult learning and business development. The rest of the planned activities remain unfulfilled too. The information centre focuses on tourism information, excursions and the upkeep of tourism objects and their surroundings. In summer 2002 the first tourism booklet on the Sabile county is published. The Sabile county paper "The Sabile County Courier” continues to be published as well.
October-December 2002 – the information centre stops operating.
In 2003 the Information Centre ofSabile county resumes its activities concentrating on two service fields: providing tourism information and the newspaper "The Sabile County Courier”. Focus is set on organising excursions to Vīnakalns (the Wine Hill) and around the Sabile county as well as providing tourists with information about sightseeing objects and recreation offers. Information on tourism possibilities in Kurzeme and other regions of Latvia is provided too. Access to Internet is also available.
On 1 February 2010 the Information Centre of Sabile is temporarily closed due to the municipal reorganisation where the Sabile county (Sabile city and Abava rural district) is incorporated into the municipality of Talsi county.
During the tourism season of 2010, an employee of the Talsi county Tourism Information Centre is working in Sabile.
