Exhibition "Amber Road: The Myths and the Science"
Baltic amber in Europe's cultural relations from prehistoric times to today, and the various applications of Baltic amber.
The exhibition presents observations about amber by Avicenna, Tacitus and Pliny, and tells about the use of amber by the ancient Baltic peoples. Likewise, the exhibition showcases present-day applications of amber, Latvian scientists' contribution to amber research and development of new products.
The "Amber Vein" project in Riga, the European Capital of Culture, involves five museums and one gallery that each, from their own standpoint, look at the origins, history, identity and application of amber.
