Rally "Kurzeme 2010"
Rally "Kurzeme" is known auto sport event with long lasting traditions. This year it is celebrating 45th anniversary. In its time of existence rally "Kurzeme" welcomed stages of USSR and European championships as well as championship stages of neighboring countries - Lithuania, Estonia and Russia. No other rally in Baltic States has had such portfolio.
In 2009 rally, rally sprint and rally raid assembled 107 crews and 25 thousand spectators, and gained great media attention with more than 700 publications in Latvian and international media.
Rally and rallysprint
The best crew in overall classification of rally was Ivars Vasaraudzis/Peteris Spredzis who left Estonian crew Georg Gross/Kristo Kraag behind. Until the last meter of last special stage fierce struggle went on in group N4, where Janis Vorobjovs finishing first while leader of the group Lithuanian Vytautas Svedas retired the competition.
This year rally "Kurzeme 2010" will be stage of Latvian Rally Championship, stage of Latvian Rally sprint Championship and stage of Northern European Zone (NEZ) Rally Championship and Cup.
Rally competition will start Friday evening with night special stage in the city streets (asphalt, concrete, pavement) and will continue on Saturday with gravel special stages in the territory of former Liepaja region. Total length of special stages will be about 104 kilometers, out of which 99 kilometers will take place on gravel roads. Longest special stage will be about 25 kilometers long. Distance of special stages for rally sprint competitors will not exceed 60 kilometers, but just as in 2009, rally sprinters will have a chance and will be welcome to perform full distance of the race.
