Events round-up November and December 2018
From the Baltic Sea and Latvian Tourism Forum for travel industry professionals to cosy winter events that visitors to Latvia will treasure, there's no shortage of things to do in the winter months.
Baltic Sea and Latvian Tourism Forum
The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia and the Baltic Sea Tourism Center are proud to host the joint Baltic Sea and Latvian Tourism Forum with the theme "On the edge of change".
The forum will touch on the topics of the effects of tourism on a destination's authenticity and sustainability, and how digital solutions can help keep a place's true spirit alive.
Speakers include, among others, communications and branding expert Mr Emil Spangenberg from Denmark, creator of the Plastic Whale project Mr Marius Smit and co-founder of the TechChill conference Ms Marija Ručevska.

Staro Rīga Festival of Light
Light and multimedia installations by international artists will brighten up the buildings, streets and public spaces of Riga this winter. Elements of performance art, music and theatre will add to the experience.
The first Staro Rīga festival took place in 2008 in honour of Latvia's 90th birthday. Since then, it's become a much-loved tradition among Riga residents and visitors.

Marking 100 years since Latvia's declaration of independence in 1918, this year's celebration is expected to be particularly vibrant and memorable. Experience the laying of flowers by Latvian officials at the Freedom Monument in Riga, the military parade along the riverside promenade and a spectacular fireworks show in the evening. Events will take place throughout Latvia.

30.11. - 06.01., Riga
Mulled local fruit wine and hot blackcurrant juice with a dash of Riga Black Balsam are market favourites. Hungry visitors will also enjoy the selection of venison and wild boar produce, gingerbread and honey. Stay for a while to see what's happening on stage as regular shows take place.
The market is also a great spot for picking up Christmas gifts, from wooden utensils to woolen mittens and fur caps.
Believe in Wonder winter festival
The perfect occasion to stock up on tasty treats and gifts at the pop-up market. Visitors will also enjoy the series of performances going on throughout the day by Santa's elves and other magical creatures. Fun for the family.
No matter the weather conditions, numerous large scale snowmen will pop up across Dobele to add some cheer to the winter season. Join the opening celebration or visit until January.
Christmas Tree Trail

An original art happening in Riga which sees numerous stylised Christmas trees appear throughout the city's public spaces. Walk the whole trail to get a good impression of the city!
