The Sigulda Opera Festival Promises Wonderful Rendezvous
In the festival culmination – the open-air original staging of the opera “Falstaff” by Giuseppe Verdi.
It will be already the 25th summer which in one of the picturesque places in Latvia – in Sigulda will come with the Opera Festival of this city. Born in the creative fantasy of the surgeon Dainis Kalns, the idea of the Sigulda Opera Festival is not only successfully implemented in the life, but also has stood the test of time.
The Sigulda Opera Festival will be held from 28 till 30 July and it promises to be at least as glamorous and unforgettable as in previous years.
It seems that this festival cannot be otherwise due to venue – festival, as usual, will be held in open-air in the garden of the New Castle of Sigulda and open-air stage of Sigulda Castle Ruins with a wide panoramic view of the Gauja Valley.
The culmination of the festival is foreseen on 29 July when music lovers will have an opportunity to watch until now not staged opera “Falstaff” by the Italian music giant Giuseppe Verdi. The original open-air staging will be composed by a bright group of artists – director Guntis Gailītis, conductor Atvars Lakstīgala, stage designer Aigars Ozoliņš, but the great Ieva Kundziņa will ensure Shakespeare’s era costumes.
Among singers there will be French guest artist Pierre-Yves Pruvot, and such bright Latvian stars as Maija Kovaļevska, Kalvis Kalniņš and other masters.
The Sigulda Opera Festival will begin on 28 July with festival introductory concert in the garden of the News Castle of Sigulda, in which new, but already successful Latvian artists will perform.
On 29 July in the garden of the News Castle of Sigulda the concert “Young talents” will be held. On 30 July the concert of church music is foreseen in the Sigulda Evangelical Lutheran Church.
At the conclusion of the International Sigulda Opera Festival on 30 July the splendid Gala concert will be performed, in which special guests will be Olga Peretjatko (Russia/Germany) and Juan Pablo Dupré Fernandez (Chile).
Olga Peretjatko is one of the best this time opera music soprano in the world. She is born and raised in St. Petersburg, but now the artist live in Germany. Her voice has sounded in the most famous European opera houses and in the Bastille Day celebration in 2014 next to the Eiffel tower, the voice of the singer was heard by more than 600.000 people.
The tenor Juan Pablo Dupré Fernandez is born in Chile. Since 2004 he actively participates in various opera staging and contests in the wide world. Also other great foreign and local artists will perform in the Gala concert.
In the anniversary year the Sigulda Opera Festival visitors will be delighted also by the special “Opera restaurant”. Taking into account achievement of the Latvian contemporary cuisine, Riga – Gauja region has won the title of European Region of Gastronomy. Visitors of the Opera Festival will have an opportunity to join musical adventure with taste pleasure. The menu will be ensured by the best Riga – Gauja region restaurants by offering meals made of products and raw materials of this region.
