One of the brightest classical music events this summer – the eighth annual “Kremerata Baltica” Festival will take place in Sigulda from July 1 to 3.

“Kremerata Baltica”, a chamber orchestra, was created in 1997 by renowned violinist Gidon Kremer, who serves as the orchestra's artistic director and solo violinist.  The orchestra is composed of exceptionally-talented young musicians from the Baltic States.

“Kremer and his new string orchestra, made up of extraordinary young players from the Baltic States, are special. They animate everything their bows touch,” the newspaper “The Los Angeles Times” wrote about the orchestra’s performance.

“Kremerata Baltica” concerts will be held in Sigulda’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Castle and “Baltais fligelis” Concert Hall.

In 2002, “Kremerata Baltica" won a Grammy Award for the music album „After Mozart” in the category – the Best Chamber Music Performance.

The orchestra has performed in world’s most prestigious concert halls – “Carnegie Hall” in New York, “Musikverein” in Vienna, and “Royal Albert Hall” in London.
