For the seventh time the Art Academy of Latvia will open its doors to the general public to present this year's bachelor's and master's graduates in all specialisations. The focus of the exhibition is on each artist's individual awareness of and collaboration with the different worlds in which the creative process is realised in manifest materialities. This year's exhibition is complemented by a programme of performances and the opportunity to meet the artists in person.
The exhibition's leitmotif is the artist's creative handwriting as a way of knowing and understanding oneself and the world around one. In an age of information overload and sharp clashes of opinions, it is essential for an artist to maintain clarity of expression, stimulating the potential of creativity as a form of critical thinking. This year's exhibition is particularly notable for large-scale works, experiments with materiality and the involvement of different senses in the perceptual experience, interactive solutions and a wide range of themes - from mythology, family and identity research to ecology, new technologies and social challenges. Under the slogan "I am art", the young artists are united by their search for their place, belonging and voice in the creative ecosystem and beyond.
The opening of the exhibition will take place on 13 June at 18.00-22.00 at 13 O. Kalpaka Boulevard, with music by habibah akila jamila and Hug' (Pure Culture / Unexpected Sources Audio Gallery), as well as a bar "Auss".
The exhibition will be accompanied by a public programme in the buildings of the Art Academy of Latvia and in the urban environment: performances, an object theatre performance, creative workshops and a discussion on creative "tangles" as points of growth for the young artist.
