The Riga International Film Festival was established in 2014, and has quickly become one of Latvia’s premier cultural events. It is a celebration of cinema that introduces the international film industry to the current body of work coming out of the Baltic Sea region and the Nordic countries, and in turn, introduces local audiences to the latest happenings in world cinema. The festival advances public interest in current events taking place in the contemporary cinema landscape, and encourages dialogue between viewers and filmmakers.
The biggest celebration of cinema in Latvia, RIGA IFF will delight the senses of film lovers with over 100 screenings from 16 to 26 October, offering bold and fresh visions of world and European cinema. In parallel, a programme of events for industry professionals, as well as a series of public events for the wider community will take place during the festival. With the motto SEE. SHIFT. BECOME., this year, the festival team’s focal point becomes the state of being experienced by film audiences, immersing themselves in the vast and exquisite pleasure of cinema.
