The resort is situated in a scenic area along the Daugava River, with direct access to the river, yet is only 3 km from the center of Krāslava.
What's on offer: The Daugava River route "In Search of Latvia's Origins." Led by an instructor, we'll set out on the Piedruja–Krāslava route along the Daugava River, following the Latvian–Belarusian border. This is where Latvia and the entire Western world begin—the European Union, NATO, the Schengen Area; this is where cultures meet—Latvian, Belarusian, Russian, Polish, Jewish—and history continues in the architecture and the people. We’ll paddle 24 km over 5–7 hours. The hike introduces participants to Latvia’s eastern border region, its nature, cultural history, and identity through educational and team-building activities, informative stops, and the instructor’s narration. The route passes through the "Daugavas loki" Nature Park.
The "In the Footsteps of Time" route through the Sauleskalns lake system. Led by an instructor, we set out on a route through the four lakes surrounding Sauleskalns. We board at the first lake and disembark at the fourth. We paddle 15 km over the course of 4–6 hours. The hike introduces participants to the world-class natural values and cultural-historical heritage of the unique Sauleskalns lake system, spanning from Latvia’s first period of independence through the Soviet years to the present day. The hike features educational and team-building activities, informative stops, and narration by an instructor. The hike was developed in collaboration with the Latvian Nature Fund. During the Soviet era, the Sauleskalns area was a popular resort and boating destination. Today, the hill gained wider recognition following the 2016 expedition by the Latvian Nature Fund, during which unique ecosystems of flora and fauna—among the cleanest in the Baltic region—were discovered in the lakes, having remained untouched since the Ice Age.
