Briežu Stacija (Deer Station) is an architect designed off grid cabin with a private sauna and outdoor hot tub in the heart of Gauja National Park, near Augšlīgatne in Cēsis Municipality, about 65 km from Riga. It is a quiet forest retreat for two people who want to experience Latvia’s nature with privacy, comfort and a slower rhythm.
The cabin stands in a small forest clearing where the surrounding landscape becomes part of the stay. Its dark spruce exterior blends into the trees, while inside, five metre ceilings, panoramic windows and light wood finishes open the space towards the forest, natural light and the changing seasons. Briežu Stacija is not only a place to sleep. It is a place for quiet mornings, coffee on the terrace, evenings by the fire and the feeling that city life has been left far behind.
The house is compact, warm and designed for year round stays. Inside there is a wood burning fireplace, heated bathroom floor, projector for movie nights, 5G wifi and thoughtful details that make the cabin comfortable in every season. Outside, guests can enjoy a hot tub under the open sky and a separate glass wall sauna with a Huum heater, set among the trees. This combination of design, warmth and nature makes Briežu Stacija especially suited for a romantic escape, an anniversary or a short break from everyday life.
The surrounding area offers many ways to explore the Gauja River valley. Guests can go hiking in Gauja National Park, cycle through the landscape, take kayaks on the Gauja River or visit Līgatne, Cēsis and Sigulda. Nearby highlights include the old town and castle in Cēsis, Turaida Castle and Gūtmaņala Cave near Sigulda, and Pavāru Māja, a Michelin Green Star restaurant in Līgatne. After a day outside, guests return to their own private forest clearing, where dark skies are ideal for stargazing when the weather is clear.
Briežu Stacija is made for 2 adults and 1 child and is open all year round. It is best suited for travellers looking for a peaceful, romantic and high quality stay in nature. The experience shows Latvia’s landscape in a modern way, with respect for silence, design and a strong sense of place.
