Banitis Festival is one of the newest and most popular traditions of Aluksne. Who doesn't want to board a real narrow-gauge train car towed by an equally real steam locomotive? But every year in the autumn, people from the edges come to Banitis' birthday party. This is the longest celebration in Latvia - at all train line stations up to Gulbene.
