On 17 May, two major cultural events will take place across Latvia - "Night of Museums" and "Night of Churches" - offering visitors the opportunity to discover the treasures of the country's museums and places of worship.

Night of Museums

"This year, Museum Night will take place for the 21st time, with the unifying theme of "Stories of Our Values". The aim of the event is to invite public, municipal and private museums, as well as other organisers of public life, to share and tell the public about the most important treasures in their collections. "This year, Museum Night will offer visitors a varied programme in more than 100 museums and cultural institutions across Latvia. The theme of the event - "Stories of our values" - invites museums to tell the stories of what is important to us in Latvia: the people, events, artworks, ideas and places that make up our identity. More information about the Night of Museums programme and participants is available on the website of the Latvian National Committee of the International Council of Museums: latvia.icom.museum.lv

Church Night and Open Churches Day

On the same day, 17 May, the Night of Churches and Open Churches Day will also take place, this year under the motto "Do you believe it?" (John 11:26). Churches across Latvia will be open to the public from 10.00 to 24.00, offering the opportunity to discover the architecture, art and spiritual heritage of churches. For more information about the "Night of the Churches" event, visit the official website: baznicunakts.lv

We invite everyone to take advantage of this unique opportunity and take part in these cultural events to discover the treasures of Latvia's museums and places of worship.
