Join the biggest ethnomusic event in Latvia and meet again in Valmiermuiža on 5 July 2025! For the eighth year, the International Valmiermuiža Ethnomusic Festival will bring together seekers of authentic experiences, as well as outstanding soloists and contemporary ethnomusic bands from Latvia, as well as from countries near and far. A diverse musical experience, ranging from traditional to contemporary ethnomusic music, will appeal to even the most demanding music lovers.
At the 2025 Valmiermuiža Ethnomusic Festival, performances will include Saulius Petreikis from Lithuania, "Black Rooster Kapelye" – a group uniting musicians from Latvia, Germany, and the USA – as well as local bands such as "Līgas pH3," "Dyrbyni," and "Kaktu balles muzikanti." Some of these groups will introduce listeners to new ethno music discoveries presented annually on the festival stage, while others have already made a name for themselves, boasting, for example, nominations for the "Golden Microphone" and the Latgalian cultural award "Boņuks 2024," as well as placements on the "World Music Charts Europe" – a listing of the best world music. Festival visitors will also be delighted by circus performers, a fire show, cuisine from different cultures, peaceful and restless recreation areas, visual arts events, entertaining educational workshops celebrating modern sustainability using ancient skills - the festival promises a range of diverse experiences and a great atmosphere for the whole family
