The Užava lighthouse is included in the list of state-protected cultural monuments and is located ~ 20 kilometers south of Ventspils. The Užava lighthouse is located on one of three high, wooded dunes - the so-called Teniroka dunes, which reach a height of 28 meters. From a distance, this dune resembled a baking oven, which is why in the 19th century the German name for the Užava lighthouse was Bakofen.

Užava was first mentioned in historical sources in 1230. As early as the 17th–18th centuries, there are reports of a navigation light located here in the form of a bonfire on a pile of stones, which served as a landmark for ships on their way to the port of Ventspils.

The height of the tower is 19 meters. The height above sea level is 44 meters. The lighthouse is visible from 15 nautical miles away.
