On the island of Lake Viļaka there are fragments of the Marienhausen castle, built in 1509 on the site of the destroyed fortress. Visit the island by crossing one the longest pontoon bridges in Latvia (144 m). A new 442-meter-long hiking trail has been created on the island, which leads around the island. There are wooden bridges with a “pocket” for recreation, as well as a pier for boats and information stands.
During the summer season, you can also get to the island using the services provided by “Ezertūre”.
Nature trail length: 2 km. The trail's difficulty: easy, however, not accessible for people with disabilities.
