”Deep Tech Atelier” is one of the largest events of its kind in Northern Europe, regularly bringing together entrepreneurs, scientists, investors, industry leaders and startups in Riga.
At the deep end
The origins of the event can be traced back to 2018, when the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) established Deep Tech Atelier as a free conference to boost the science, technology and entrepreneurial potential of Latvia by attracting industry leaders from the Baltic Sea region and international innovators. In the first year, the event brought together 495 participants from eight countries, and 10 deep tech start-ups were created. Later, the conference became an annual fixture in the Riga innovation ecosystem – in 2024, the event brought together more than 1,500 participants from 53 countries, and in 2026 – more than 2,300 participants from 69 countries.
Tech interface
The conference aims to assemble international experts to organise thematic discussions, practical workshops, startup presentations and informal meetings. This format is significant for Latvian innovation because it allows local companies to gain recognition alongside foreign investors and technology partners.
Cutting-edge cases
Each edition covers several trends that are determining the development of the latest deep technologies. For example, the 2026 forum highlighted artificial intelligence, data technologies, defence innovations, medical technologies, robotics, space technologies and secure digital systems. Also, great attention was paid to creating a business model to attract customers, partners and investments.
Pitch, please
One of the most visible parts of the Deep Tech Atelier is the Start-up Pitch Competition, featuring start-ups from various deep technology sectors, including defence, MedTech, AI, ICT, biotechnology, material science and energy. This is an opportunity for participants to present solutions to international investors, companies and innovation experts, and for investors to find cooperation partners.
Touch tech and talk shop
Event participants usually have access to a B2B networking platform where they can make contacts and plan targeted business negotiations. In the demo zone, visitors can learn more about physical products and solutions in the fields of medical technology, defence, artificial intelligence and other deep technology.
Ctrl the future
Latvia’s innovation potential is clearly developing, and the growing popularity and ambitions of the Deep Tech Atelier are proof of this. The scale of the event demonstrates the great interest that foreign technology, investment and research communities have shown in Riga as an international meeting place
The next event in the Latvian capital is scheduled for April 2027.
