Promenade on the right bank of the Gauja River in Valmiera
The promenade construction project envisages the creation of a pedestrian and cyclist path, a jogging and Nordic walking trail, which will be equipped with energy-efficient lighting and a video surveillance system to improve safety. The landscape will be complemented by greenery, ensuring the gradual replacement of old and dangerous trees. The most significant improvement of the construction project is aimed at ensuring environmental accessibility, as a solution including the creation of a new path for people with mobility impairments and parents with strollers. The implementation of the project will promote the development of the scenic environment of the Gauja riverbank and improve recreational opportunities for Valmiera residents and guests, ensuring sustainable and accessible public infrastructure.
Valmiera Industrial Park of National Importance
The development of the industrial park will promote the development and economic growth of the Valmiera region and the Vidzeme region, and will increase the quality of life of residents in the Vidzeme region up to the northern border of Latvia. The industrial park will allow the region to attract investments, develop production, and provide new jobs for the residents of Vidzeme. As a result, Valmiera will have more entrepreneurs who can offer tours of production facilities and there will be potential for industrial tourism to develop.
New visitor centre
One of the most popular natural tourism attractions in the Valmiera region is Skaņākalns Nature Park. For the convenience of visitors, a new visitor centre is planned to be built at its entrance, where it will be possible to receive more information about the park, its attractions and routes. An approximately 3 km long trail stretches through the park, covering the most magnificent section of the Salaca primeval valley with sandstone outcrops, caves, springs and pine forests. While walking along the trail, visitors can observe such natural formations as the Wolf Pine, the Devil's Rock, the Angel's Cave, the Dreaming Staircase, the Devil's Cave, the Dwarf's Path, the Neļķu Cliffs, the Devil's Pulpit and the Skaņokalns. During last year's active tourism season, the recorded number of visitors to the territory was more than ten thousand.
Project Green Roads II
In the Valmiera region, the former railway line from Rūjiena to the Estonian border has been cleared of vegetation and railway sleepers, and has been landscaped to make it accessible to tourists, cyclists and pedestrians. The created route is marked, the necessary signs, directions and information stands have been installed, and a cyclist and pedestrian counter will be installed. After the route is opened, it will be an excellent connection between Rūjiena and Meizakila in Estonia, as it will serve as a 23 km long pedestrian and bicycle path, along which you can move around undisturbed and without motorised vehicles and explore the industrial heritage. These “Green Railways” are widespread in the Valmiera region.

Valmiera Theatre, founded in 1923, is the only professional theatre in the Vidzeme region. It is located in the very heart of Valmiera, next to one of the most popular walking spots for Valmiera residents and city guests – the Dzirnavu Lake promenade. In 2024, the theatre returned to its renovated home at Lāčplēša Street 4 after reconstruction, which allows it to accommodate audiences in various playing areas – the Great, Round and New Halls, as well as in the progressive pearl of industrial heritage – the Contemporary Art Space “Kurtuve”. The premises are available not only for enjoying culture, but also for organising events, and technical equipment rental and technical and service staff recruitment are also available. The premises are accessible to people with mobility impairments. The Valmiera Theatre and the Contemporary Art Space “Kurtuve” have a café, where the Michelin Guide restaurant “Akustika” operates.
Concert Hall Valmiera
Concert Hall Valmiera is a multifunctional cultural and artistic venue in the historic Valmiera pavilion – Vecpuišu Park, located in the centre of Valmiera. For concerts, conferences, seminars, corporate and social events, a large hall, a seminar hall and a meeting room are available, as well as comfortable technical rooms for event artists and managers. In the warm season, events can also be organised on the romantic veranda and terrace. Technical equipment for sound and lighting of events, decoration services, marketing activities to attract an audience and rental of a professional, fully equipped kitchen are available.
Valmiera Olympic Centre
In the Valmiera Olympic Centre, you can follow both domestic and international competitions in basketball, hockey, floorball and other sports on a daily basis, while on weekends you can participate in public skating, which is organised in the ice rink. For large-scale concerts, competitions, exhibitions or corporate events, a multifunctional universal sports hall with a capacity of up to 2,500 seats is available. The hall can be divided into three areas with a dividing wall, thus allowing for various activities. Valmiera Cultural Centre is a versatile venue in the centre of Valmiera. Various traditional and contemporary art events take place here every day. A large hall, smaller rooms, as well as full technical equipment and inventory rental are available for rent. Sports and cultural venue KVARC
Sports and cultural venue KVARC is the only indoor beach volleyball hall in Northern Vidzeme, where you can actively spend time with family, friends and colleagues. Here you can play beach volleyball and beach tennis, billiards, novus, darts and table tennis. There is also a gym and a playroom for the youngest visitors. After the activities, you can enjoy various drinks and snacks in a specially equipped bar area.
