Each August, Orchestra RIGA presents a concert series, SUMMER CLASSICS, at Riga Cathedral, combining orchestral and organ music in a historical setting. The program features works by Bach, Debussy, and Rihards Dubra. Bach’s D minor Concerto and E-flat Prelude and Fugue are performed with organist Aigars Reinis. Debussy’s The Sunken Cathedral and Afternoon of a Faun are heard in wind arrangements. Latvian composer Dubra’s Toccata and Awaiting the Dawn reflect both liturgical and contemporary influences.
