On the summer solstice, Jelgava will host traditional festive activities inviting residents and visitors to celebrate the longest day and shortest night of the year, honoring Latvian traditions and the rhythms of nature. The festival program will take place in two parts.

From 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the traditional Herb Market will take place in the Old Town street quarter of Jelgava, while right next door, in the courtyard of the Life Skills and Crafts Yard, there will be musical performances, Midsummer cheese-making, and various master classes and creative workshops for children.

Starting at 9 p.m., Midsummer celebrations on Castle Island with folklore groups. There will be songs, dances, and a bonfire. But at midnight, everyone is invited to Pasta Island, where they can watch the glowing of fire sculptures made of chamotte.
