There are several important car and motorcycle tracks in Latvia, suitable for professional competitions, amateur training, education and active recreation. Their offer is attractive both for the organisation of sports events and the tourism industry.
This article reviews some Latvian car and motorcycle tracks, where international competitions and other important events take place. It summarises information about the main events, infrastructure and activities of these sports centres, which attract both professional athletes and fans, and those interested in active recreation.
Biķernieki sports complex
The history of the Biķernieki track began in the 1950s, when the motorsports community and industry representatives were looking for a suitable place to create a new sports centre. The Biķernieki forest near Mežciems was selected as the most suitable site, where a highway racing track could be combined with motocross infrastructure. The choice of location was also determined by the cover of the pine forest, which reduces the impact of wind and rain, as well as relatively easy access from the city. In 2026, an exhibition dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Biķernieki track opened at the Riga Motor Museum.
Today, the Biķernieki track is one of the most important venues for technical sports in Latvia. Its calendar includes stages of the Baltic Motorsports Championship, the FIA European Rallycross Championship, international drift competitions, motorsports competitions, speedway events and other motorsports and motorsports events. The track has gained international recognition as one of the best places for the drift discipline, where specific configurations have been created that are highly valued by drivers.
The Biķernieki complex is used not only for competitions, but also for training, educational classes and active recreation activities. A specialised speedway school operates at the complex, where young people learn the basics of motorsports in regular training. Children can take their first steps in cycling, while drivers regularly organise safe driving consultations and practical seminars to prevent extreme situations on the road. But the motorsports simulator provides an opportunity to try out various motorsports disciplines in a controlled environment, as well as learn the basic principles of sports driving.
A specially marked running trail, MTB bike trail and orienteering trails in the Biķernieki forest are available at the complex. In the winter season, a cross-country skiing track is created and a winter car track is available on the karting track for driving your own car.
Golden Horse Motocross Track
The Golden Horse Motocross Track is located in Ķegums, approximately 60 kilometres from Riga International Airport, providing convenient access for foreign guests and teams. Regular world-class competitions and developed infrastructure confirm Ķegums’ ability to host large-scale international sports and entertainment events, strengthening Latvia’s recognition worldwide. The 1,750-metre-long motocross track is distinguished by its special sand and clay surface, which is highly appreciated by both riders and motorsport teams.
The Golden Horse Motocross Track is one of the most important and best-equipped motorsport venues in the Baltic States, becoming a regular venue for international motocross competitions over the years.
The Ķegums track has been part of the MXGP competition circuit since 2009, when it hosted the first Grand Prix World Championship round. At the beginning of summer in 2026, the Latvian round of the International Motorsports Federation (FIM) Motocross World Championship (MXGP) took place at the Zelta Zirgs motorcycle track. The event brought together the world’s motocross elite and fans from Latvia and abroad.
MXGP is the leading class of the motocross world championship and the highest-level international competition. The origins of the championship can be traced back to the 1950s – the 500 cm³ class gained world championship status in 1957 and the 250 cm³ class – in 1962. Today, the main championship classes are MXGP and MX2, of which MXGP is considered the most prestigious, bringing together the world’s strongest motocross riders. The 2026 season calendar includes 19 Grand Prix rounds in 17 countries.
The Latvian round of the MXGP World Championship has been one of the most important motorsport events in the Baltics for many years. According to MXGP’s officially published attendance data, the Latvian round has attracted a significant number of spectators in recent years: 18,000 in 2023, 21,000 in 2024, 22,000 in 2025 and 25,000 in 2026.
Motorsports adventure park Mūsa Raceland
Mūsa Raceland is located near Bauska and operates as a motorsports adventure park for professionals and enthusiasts of all ages. It is also an accredited autocross track, which allows both sport driving and individual and corporate motorsports adventures in a closed, controlled environment. The offer includes rides in specially prepared cars, rally school, buggies, jeep and ATV rides, children’s motorsports activities, as well as private and corporate events.
The sports centre has specially rebuilt Volvo 740 cars at its disposal, equipped with rally seats, four-point seat belts and an additional safety frame. 250 cm³ buggies are also available for adults, while for more extreme off-road rides, Jeep Wrangler 4x4 off-road vehicles and ATVs are offered on a 9-hectare off-road track. For children, there are separate activities with children’s jeeps, quads and buggies, as well as a Children’s City with electric cars.
Mūsa Raceland rally school offers one, two and three-day programmes, combining theoretical lessons with practical driving training on rebuilt Volvo 740 cars and a rally-equipped Subaru Impreza WRX. Trainees improve their driving skills on sand, mud, clay and asphalt surfaces. The programmes are designed for small groups of up to six participants.
Raceway Baltic sports complex
Raceway Baltic or the “333” sports complex is located in Sila Priedē in Ropaži municipality and is a multifunctional car, motorcycle and active recreation sports centre offering karting, MX and enduro activities, water motorbikes, a safe driving range and a camping park. The most important advantage of the complex is its wide range of activities – from individual entertainment rides and sports group activities to safe driving training, vehicle tests and corporate events.
Karts made by Sodi are available here, as well as LR6 karts for children and the more powerful SODI RT10 Sport karts, which can reach speeds of up to 85 km/h. In turn, the safe driving range is intended for practical training in various traffic risk scenarios. The range has four specially built tracks that can simulate sideslip, aquaplaning, unexpected obstacles and other extreme situations on the road.
The complex offers 38 hectares of event space, presentation and event spaces, team competition formats, vehicle testing and safe driving training with infrastructure suitable for corporate events, car presentations, sports games and group activities, where driving competitions can be combined with practical training.
Specialised karting track
Kandavas kartodroms is a specialised karting track designed for races, training and events with of total area of 4.45 hectares, a length of 1,012 metres and a width of 8 metres. The track has 11 turns, the longest straight reaches 154 metres, and driving takes place counterclockwise.
The karting track regularly hosts Latvian and Baltic karting championships, amateur competitions and other motorsport events. The track is also used for athlete training, individual rental karting races, corporate events and friendly competitions. In these races, time recording allows comparisons of driver performance.
Reconfiguration of Kandavas kartodroms was designed by Formula 1 track architect Hermans Tilke. The 2026 competition calendar in Kandava includes the Rotax Nordic Challenge, LČ/RMC Kandava and Baltic Karting Cup stages.
Sports and recreation park
The Pīlādži Sports and Recreation Park is located in Stelpe parish, Bauska region, approximately 60 kilometres from Riga, a complex with an area 25 hectares that can accommodate both sports and cultural events thanks to infrastructure with a total capacity of up to 25,000 visitors. The park includes a motocross track, camping houses, swimming areas, sports fields, stages, a motorcycle wash, electricity connection, Wi-Fi, as well as parking for up to 1,000 cars.
The 2026 sports events calendar in Pīlādži includes the Latvian Motocross Cup, the Latvian Motocross Championship and the Retro Motocross Cup. The complex also offers motocross training with its own equipment, boat and SUP board rental, a jacuzzi, a children’s playground and swimming areas. Pīlādži is suitable not only for motocross competitions and training, but also for families, teams and tourist groups.
Regular international competitions and a developed infrastructure demonstrate Latvia’s ability to host large-scale motorsports and motorsports events. They strengthen Latvia’s visibility abroad and attract athletes, teams, media representatives, fans and tourists. Technical sports centres are also important outside the competition calendar – they host training, safe driving courses, karting and motorbike activities, corporate events and active leisure. This complements Latvia’s tourism offer and contributes to the local economy, especially in the hospitality, catering, transport and service sectors.
