Cēsis is situated in the central area of the Vidzeme region, and it is one of the most beautiful cities in Latvia.

Cēsis Castle Complex

The medieval castle ruins are the symbol of Cēsis that, together with the park, create the romantic atmosphere of the town.

The New Cēsis Castle, which has been rebuilt and expanded multiple times, acquired its architectural shape in the beginning of the 16th century.

Cēsis History and Art Museum

The Cēsis History and Art Museum, situated in the Cēsis New Castle, is one of the oldest provincial museums in Latvia. Since the founding of the museum, its inventory was designed to fully reflect the colourful cultural and historical heritage of the town of Cēsis and its municipality as a part of Latvian cultural history.

The Enchanting Architecture of Cēsis Historical Centre

The cobbled streets of Cēsis historical centre have remained the same as during the Middle Ages, preserving the medieval buildings with red tiled roofs, enclosed backyards, and renovated facades as well.

Tourist Information Centre

Tourist groups have the opportunity to reserve a number of theatrical tourist programmes and enjoy a medieval meal and local beer from Cēsis brewery, which is one of the oldest breweries in the Baltic states. The Tourist Information Centre will answer your questions.

St. John's Church

Not far from the Cēsis castle you can find St. John's Church, which was built at the end of the 13th century, and during which time it was the largest church in the Vidzeme region. Even today, after several renovations, the church maintains its powerful and impressive look. You should visit the church to see the footstones of the graves of Livonian Order masters and listen to the sound of the organ that fills not only the church but its surroundings as well.
