Sigulda is a charming city in the Vidzeme region of Latvia, offering excellent opportunities for organising business and event tourism. It is located only about 50 km from Riga and 60 km from Riga International Airport (RIX), making it an easily accessible and ideal place for conferences, seminars and corporate events for those who want to combine a professional environment with natural beauty and historical charm..
Sigulda boasts a rich history, picturesque landscape and vibrant cultural life. The city surprises with a variety of opportunities for active people and adrenaline seekers, as well as a peaceful environment where you can regain energy in the natural landscape surrounded by the ancient Gauja Valley. It is an excellent place not only for organising business events, conferences and seminars, but also a place where at the end of the working day you can enjoy the peace of nature, restore strength and recharge your creativity. Sigulda's harmonious environment provides the perfect balance between professional activities and relaxation, which is essential for every business person.
Why is Sigulda a great place to organise events of various sizes?
Strategic location
Speaking about the MICE or business tourism potential of the city, Jānis Vimba, Director of the Sigulda Regional Culture and Tourism Centre: “Sigulda’s strategic location is one of its greatest resources – the city is located just under an hour’s drive from Riga, which makes it easily accessible to both local residents and foreign visitors. This proximity to the capital, as well as the developed infrastructure and good accessibility by public transport, creates a favourable environment for business, tourism and cultural development.” He continues: “From this year, Sigulda guests will have access to a new train connection connecting all three Baltic capitals. The inclusion of two Sigulda stops in the Baltic capitals connection route will not only promote the mobility of Sigulda residents and the opportunity to visit neighbouring countries more conveniently, but will also allow tourists from Estonia and Lithuania to visit Sigulda.”
Infrastructure and capacity
“Sigulda is a great place to organise events of various sizes, offering a wide range of conference rooms, convenient hotel locations and efficient logistics. Sigulda offers conference rooms with different capacities – from 12 to 421 places, with adapted infrastructure for a successful event. The city has 10 hotels and motels, more than 25 guest houses, as well as holiday homes and apartments. Spacious parking lots are available. The distances from accommodation located in the city centre to the largest event venues are short – most often within walking distance,” says Mr Vimba.

The great experience of caterers
ānis Vimba particularly notes the achievements of the city's catering sector: "In the Sigulda region, the catering industry has developed with great care and respect for local flavours, seasonal products and traditions. Caterers have been working here for years – some even decades – and their experience is an invaluable resource in terms of both quality and innovation. These are not just companies, they are people who know what their customers want, know how to use local resources and know how to create an offering that is both authentic and modern. There are 7 restaurants in the Sigulda region and the Riga-Gauja region. In turn, there are more than 35 cafes, bars and other types of caterers in the Sigulda region." It is certainly worth mentioning that at the beginning of this year, the gourmet festival "Celebrating Winter Flavors" was held in Sigulda for the seventh time, which took place in the Sigulda Castle of the Livonian Order. Jānis Vimba explains: “This event gathered a large number of visitors from all over Latvia, offering the opportunity to enjoy the best dishes prepared by chefs from the Sigulda municipality and the Riga-Gauja region. The centrepiece of this year's festival was the taste of raspberries, which served as inspiration for creative food combinations. A festival of this scale not only provided gastronomic delights, but also promoted cooperation between local caterers, home producers and representatives of the hospitality industry. Cabbage has been chosen as the gastronomic theme for next year.”
