Two restaurants in Riga - a global award for wine selection
The restaurant "Kolonāde". Mūsu stasti..." and "Bibliotēka N°1 Restorāns" - included in the world's best wine-list map.
In the world of wine and restaurants the publication "Wine Spectator" due to its significance is often compared with the fashion magazine "Vogue". Therefore the news that the restaurant "Kolonāde. Mūsu stāsti..." has received recognition in the category "Best Award of Excellence "(two glasses) and "Bibliotēka No1 Restorāns"- in the category "Award of Excellence" (one glass), is even more so pleasant.
These Riga restaurants are the only ones in the Baltics and among few others in the Nordic countries and Eastern Europe that have received such an honour.
Jānis Gailis, the experienced sommelier of "Kolonāde. Mūsu stāsti..." says that the high praise was received not only because of the excellent wine list which "covers" all of Italy and richly represents the wine producers of France, Spain, Germany and the New World.
The experienced sommelier admits: "A big factor in receiving the "Best Award of Excellence" award has definitely been our pricing policy - we are placed in the democratic price (inexpensive) category. The ENOMATIC wine storage system also helped us match the fierce competition, allowing us to serve up to 35 different types of wines every day at the exact serving temperature and quality. A big advantage has been the inclusion of so-called "vertical" wines on the list - we are able to offer wines from a single grape variety from several years."
The restaurant "Kolonāde. Mūsu stāsti..." applied for the "Wine Spectator" rating in the category "Best Award of Excellence" for the first time, whereas "Bibliotēka No1 Restorāns" has won the "Award of Excellence" for the fourth consecutive year.
"Bibliotēka No1 Restorāns", where a good, sophisticated wine is an integral part of the restaurant's identity, are now actively working to become the greatest place for enjoying champagne. Even today, along with a great meal, ensured by one of the best chefs in Riga Maris Jansons, you can enjoy a special sparkling wine. The restaurant promises that the range of champagnes will become even richer.
